Welcome to the inaugural issue of Quick Clicks, a summary of education resources worth sharing. Here are some interesting things I have discovered over the last month:
SXSW EDU
SXSW EDU, the education portion of the well known South by Southwest film festival and conference, took place a few weeks ago in Austin, TX. This keynote is well worth the watch:
“I want to convince you to start turning your studies, your teaching, your work, and maybe your entire life into a giant laboratory. I want to teach you to convince you that curiosity is more powerful that certainty.” – Anne-Laure Le Cunff
More recommendations for keynotes, featured speakers, and partner programming from the event can be found here. See all of these plus more of past years’ content on the SWSW EDU YouTube channel.
Ball State Teaching and Technology Summit
Ball State’s Teaching and Technology Summit 2025 was a free virtual event held last week, hosted by the Division of Online and Strategic Learning. It created a laid-back space for faculty and staff to connect, share fresh teaching ideas, and explore how technology can enhance learning.
Sessions were led by folks from the Ball State community and touched on everything from inclusive tech and AI in education to gamification, accessible design, and creative assessment strategies. It was all about sparking ideas and having meaningful conversations around teaching in today’s digital world.
All of the sessions I attended were insightful and full of practical takeaway. If I had to recommend just one, I would suggest Jon Ippolito’s keynote, Thinking or Shrinking? AI and Post-Citation Scholarship. He offers a very engaging perspective on AI and its applications in both life in general and in classroom.
You can find this and other recordings and notes on the Ball State Teaching and Technology Summit event page.
SLJ ISTE Webcast Series
The School Library Journal and The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) have a free webinar series covering the latest tech trends.
You can still watch the recording of the first webinar, Everything Al in Education, which discusses how Al is influencing classroom instruction, teacher preparation, and leadership.
The next webinar, Emerging Technologies in K–12, from AR/VR to the Metaverse, will be held on April 22, focusing on how to engage students by integrating new technologies like AI, AR & VR, blockchain, and the metaverse into classroom instruction.
Registration and more information can be found here.
What makes a good teacher great?
I recently had the pleasure of hearing Azul Terronez speak at the EconoMe conference last weekend. In his main stage talk, he mentioned his TED talk. It is soooo good! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll be inspired.
